The Blood of Jesus

What happened to the blood of Jesus after he was crucified? Why is His blood so powerful today? Hebrews 9:12 gives us an answer: “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

The blood of Jesus was not left on the cross or in the tomb. The risen Christ carried His own blood into the heavenly tabernacle and presented it before the Father as the perfect, once-for-all sacrifice for sin. That blood is still speaking today. Hebrews 12:24 tells us it speaks “better things than the blood of Abel.”

Abel’s blood cried out for vengeance. The blood of Jesus cries out for mercy, forgiveness, and redemption. When you come to God in praise and worship, you come through the blood of Jesus. You have access to the throne of grace because of what He did at Calvary.

Revelation 12:11 tells us that the saints “overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” The blood of Jesus is a weapon of spiritual warfare. When you declare what the blood has done for you — forgiveness, healing, deliverance, protection — you are wielding one of the most powerful weapons in the believer’s arsenal.
