When the Lord impressed upon me the words of 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, immediately, I saw that strongholds were the major stumbling blocks of God’s people. It was not difficult for me to believe that strongholds could include physical disease, spiritual oppression, or emotional bondage.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
The battlefield is the mind. The enemy’s primary strategy is to attack your thought life. He plants seeds of doubt, fear, bitterness, and despair. If left unchecked, these thoughts become strongholds — fortified positions from which the enemy operates in your life.
The weapon God has given us to pull down these strongholds is praise and worship. When you begin to praise God in the midst of a thought attack, you are doing spiritual warfare. You are bringing your thoughts into captivity to the obedience of Christ. You are declaring that God is greater than your circumstances.
This is not passive resignation. This is aggressive, faith-filled warfare. And it works.
